This area includes a mix of open space, trail access, and utility and maintenance uses, creating a varied landscape at the center of the corridor.
While the Jordan River’s main channel is not expected to change in this segment, new side channels, ponds, and wetlands will continue to create ecological enhancements and restore conditions to improve stormwater pollution. As suggested in other segments, there are opportunities for some of these new wetland areas to be more preserved and protected habitat area, while other areas are more accessible with improved trail and boardwalk experiences to tie into the greater trail network, while also creating a unique destination.
Enhancing connectivity to this segment is a key focus by primarily considering a new road on the southern part of the segment that runs adjacent to potential redevelopment areas. These community connections are considered for both short term recreational use and potential future public programming for enhanced amenity spaces.
