SEGMENT 5

Tracy Aviary Area

Segment 5 lies within the jurisdictions of West Valley to the west and South Salt Lake to the east. The southern edge is bounded by W Carlisle Street and the northern edge by 3300 S. One of the smaller segments, a key existing site feature is the Tracy Aviary Nature Center. The Center’s mission is to connect people with the birds and nature of the Jordan River, as it has it’s own independent and unique resources, it also connects into the existing JRP Trail on the eastern side of the river. Additional trails are western side as well.

Primary opportunities

Like other smaller and more constrained sites, this segment’s river channel will not be adjusted. However, a continued effort to improve riparian conditions, habitat, and vegetation where possible is still considered to maintain the vision of the Nature Center.

An Additional key component of this segment is the ongoing planning and development of the SSL Police Substation. Creating a stronger sense of access points for enhanced site safety increases site attraction for both the Nature Center and JRRA users to visit and explore the river.
